October 12, 2007 - And now for something a little different. TABOO was an adults-only cabraret night fundraiser -- and when we say adults oriented, we mean it! The performances were R rated (or PG at least), and most of the numbers were performed by small groups or soloists. We were pleased to welcome burlesque performer Tabi Fondapetting as a very special guest.

Most of our concerts are family-oriented, because our audiences range in age from babies to great-grandparents. TABOO gave us the opportunity to be just a little naughty, and boy, did we enjoy it!

Thanks to the very enthusiastic audience, who were also very generous in bidding at the silent auction. The choir is raising money to attend the Canadian Unison LGBT choirs festival in Winnipeg in 2010, and the money raised at TABOO really gets us on our way!

A huge thank-you goes out to our generous and supportive TABOO sponsor Xtra! West, Vancouver's queer newspaper. Thanks so much for your support!

September 23, 2007 - This year, as in years past, our first performance of the season was at the Vancouver Walk for Life. For some reason the Walk day always has gorgeous weather, and this year was no exception. The Vancouver clouds went away and the sun shone down on the walkers and all the groups that came to perform for them. This year we were at the Lord Stanley statue near the entrance to the park. One of the memorable things that happened that day was a sweet het couple (with their baby in a backpack) stopped to dance to one of our songs. They were adorable!

June 23, 2007 - We travelled by ferry to the Sunshine Coast and performed our concert Out on Stage at St. John's United Church in Sechelt. Many thanks to the members of the Sunshine Coast Gay and Lesbian Association who organized an opulent potluck, and also to the many people who opened their homes to provide accommodation for the choir members.

June 9, 2007 - Our concert Out on Stage was a huge success! We had a huge audience and everyone had a great time.

January 27, 2007 - Our winter concert HEAT was great fun and a huge success. This concert was our first in our new larger venue, St. Paul's Anglican Church in Vancouver's west end.

The new venue worked out very well. It provided more seating to accomodate our larger audience audience, and has much better acoustics than our old venue. It also gave us more room to decorate. Bruce was in charge of the set design, and he chose a tropical island theme with palm trees and a huge volcano made out of balloons. It looked terrific! Very playful, bright and fun.

Thank you to the concert planning team for your hard work finding the new venue, and putting together a wonderful evening for us all!

September 24, 2006 - Once again we performed at the Vancouver Walk for Life. It was a beautiful sunny day in gorgeous Stanley Park. The weather was good and hot, and we had a great time. This year our location was along the seawall near the totem poles. Some of us women were lucky enough to ogle the retreating back of Katee Sackhoff as she passed us while jogging around the seawall.

June 3, 2006 - We performed our concert Sweet Sixteen to a standing room only audience. The theme of the concert reflected the fact that we were celebrating the choir's sixteenth season. With so many year behind us, we felt like we had good reason to be proud.

May 19-22, 2006 - The Canadian Unison Festival 2006 was amazing. So many great groups, so much good music and such a high level of enthusiasm among all the participants made for a weekend none of us will ever forget. I think it's safe to say everything about the weekend was perfect.

All kinds of thanks goes out to the many choir members who volunteered their time and contributed to making the festival a success. We will all treasure our memories from this beautiful weekend of community and song.

The next Canadian Unison festival will be in 2010, in Winnipeg. Beginning this September, the choir will begin raising funds to make sure that every choir member will be able to make the trip.

June 18, 2005 - We rehearsed hard for our June concert BENT and it turned out so perfectly. We've been really excited about the fun repertoire for this concert, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Cruella deVil, a version of Old MacDonald had a Farm (in Latin), and many other slightly bent songs. We did an a capella version of The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy, during which a real fairy ballerina (complete with tutu and pointy ears) danced for the audience.
